Could robots as government leaders drastically improve decision-making ? what kind of automation you can imagine in leadership ?
Alisa is a personal assistant developed by Yandex, a Russia-based technology company and she nominated itself for the Russian Presidential Election, with the hashtag #Alisa2018. In the Netherlands, 43% of the public already prefer an AI-administered government over a human-administered one. One can get confused how Artificial Intelligence based robots control politics ? If it is going to be our future then definitely we need regulation and legislation of AI ethics, transparency and accountability.
We
human beings are different from other animals on the basis of thinking power. Robot
is product creativity of this tremendous human thinking power. We can feed
knowledge into the robots but can we able to feed emotional intelligence ? Sophia, the world’s first robot to be awarded
citizenship, developed by Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics. Sophia is a
social humanoid robot that can display more than 50 facial expressions. In 2017, she received Saudi Arabian
citizenship. According to The Economist,
In the age of the fourth industrial revolution, truckers, lawyers, doctors,
builders and now even chefs are being automated. We are the witnessed of how
digital revolution drives an increasing reliance on self-service technology,
machine to machine (M2M) communication and AI.
Why
this ideation is at forefront ? Politicians are after all human beings with
biased views, opinions and decisions affected by some internal & external
factors, corruption level & wary
accountability. As automation comes with promising future of better result in
speedier way, ideation get rooted as why
not to think automation in leadership ? SAM, an AI-powered messenger chatbot is
the brainchild of a New Zealand which can address queries regarding local
issues such as policies around housing, education, and immigration. This helps to reduce gap between politicians
promises & voters expectations and complaints. People of New Zealand can
talk to SAM anytime, anywhere. Technology is overtaking the human
limitations.
But
there are some huddles ahead while thinking of ‘virtual politicians’
- Job stealing , unemployment
- Emotional intelligence
- Critical thinking
- Legal fine & punishments if robot goes wrong
- Political strategies
- Ethics of creators of robots
- Socioeconomic impact
- Environmental effect
Now,
Active leadership has became more important than management leadership. Transparency, accountability, better
communication, speedier redress of queries & complaints & corruption
free politics, administration & governance, better decisions & policies
are the public demands at global societal level. In this technological world,
saying ‘it is impossible’ is like reflecting shallow knowledge based prediction
of future. Lets see how world is going
to deal with this double edge sword which shows both advantage &
disadvantage.
Can
we put limitation on the use of technology which has ability to rule upon us ?
Great!
