How space creates new space for human species? You must have watched interstellar movie which shows struggle for second home for earthling in space. But is space safe & peaceful place ? Well, it is interesting to see how space creates new opportunities, at the same time, new risks.
Space technology & innovation has enabled us new opportunities in the field of services like communication, navigation, financial transactions, science & exploration, remote sensing , weather monitoring etc. All these services are improving other sectors like defense, economic development, political hold etc. Russia is a pioneer of space, dating back to its launch of first satellite Sputnik-1 & placing the first person into orbit around Earth, Yuri Gagarin. Right now, use of Positioning, Navigation & Timing (PNT) system by European Union, Russia & United States is for global coverage, by Japan & India is for operating regional systems and by China is for both regional & global coverage. Now it's no new to say that space is a fourth dimension treated as separate domain by most of the countries.
My concern & fear is about the fact how man is unstoppable may be, due to his intellectual reach or griddiness or due to his curiosity or insecurity. Timer is on, space is no more peaceful place. There is prophecy how space will treated as battlefield. Some are looking at it as a modern warfare & view counterspace capabilities. Thus, everyone is engaged in working on robust & capable space services. At one side, space launch vehicles & satellites navigation constellations are providing militaries with the ability to command & control their forces worldwide & enhance situational awareness & enabling them to monitor & track each enemy's movement and at another side, these improvements can pose a threat to space based services across the military, commercial & civil space sectors. Understanding such threats like cyberspace, misuse of Direct Energy Weapons & KE, there are provisions built through 1967 Outer Space treaty to limit weaponization of space. The commercialism of space sector gives challenge to the competition in space technology & space congestion. Even space mining & management of space waste is new emerging byzantine thing & new workload to the space centres.
Security is at light speed now. Have you observed timeline? See, how space budget has increased with our every next step in future. Say fortunately or unfortunately but truth is, in safe & secure environment only, one can think about development unless & until if there is no development to confirm assurity of security. At one side, can you imagine, sudden attack of alien and we are not ready to counter attack? and at another side, can you imagine, how our own created orbital debris will damage our Earth? At that side, can you imagine how changes of expanding universe will affect earth's environment if we aren't alert before ? At this side, can you imagine how rising competition for counterspce capabilities & space war among states will be reason for own destruction ? The alarm is warning us, wake up before getting too much late.
